Jaunt to Jerome

After a wonderful sun-filled week in Aruba, Ellie & I boarded a plane (eventually) bound to Phoenix, Arizona. Now, between arriving before 6am at the airport in Aruba, clearing customs & a VERY long layover in Miami. We arrived in Phoenix somewhere about 10pm local time. It was nearly 11pm once we were finished at Budget Rental Car and were on our way, in a bright red Jeep Patriot, to Sedona. The drive was VERY dark but MILLIONS of starts lit up the sky! I was sort of glad Ellie was driving as I could just gaze out the window upward at the heavens in amazement! We finally arrived about 1:30am! We spent the following day just recuperating, finding the grocery store, etc. And dined at the Barking Frog for lunch! Great food at that...and the Prickly Pear Fries were actually not too bad!

Monday afternoon came quickly and since a massive cold front came through, we decided to do a day trip south to Jerome, and stop at Walmart to get Ellie some warmer apparel.

The day was quite overcast and windy, but the drive was quite enjoyable!

The town of Jerome is situated on the top of a mountain and a slow narrow curvy road takes you to the top. Unfortunately for me, there really weren't too many places to pull over for photos :(

Looking out onto the lands below.

Jerome is an old mining town, but the buildings have been well preserved and is filled with many eclectic shops, something for everyone! It is also rumored to be quite haunted from the miners and misfits of the day. We weren't staying until dark, so ghost tours were out of the question. Here's the old jail...it looked sort of creepy and haunted!! After a few hours we were on our way back to Sedona. But was a very enjoyable side trip!
